Lady River

Going on a journey I’ll be back in seven years
Onto the River that knows all my tears
Out through the mist farther than the stars can shine
I’ll claim from Lady River what is rightfully mine
I know you are crying despite your brave claims
Been down the River many times I’ll return again
Watch for the red sunrise to signal my return
Until that autumn day let the bright lanterns burn
Let me hold you in my arms, whisper softly in your ear
Though I am far from you, your love I will keep near
A sacred promise to you and my son yet to be born
I will return when seven years are done
Summers come, summers go
Springtime birds and winter snow
The stars have betrayed me I’m all alone
Been so many years, and I’m so far from home
Lover do your prayers, do they still come for me
I forsake my vengeance, all I want is to return to my family
Lady River I pray, carry me home
Grant me the greatest speed, carry me home
Many years I’ve waited for what I’m to receive
When I return home I vow never to leave
Red sun rising in the sky
Lover do you hear my joyous cry
Long I’ve waited for my return
To my home where the bright lanterns burn
Lover I long to feel your love
To finally hold my son
Cool breeze blowing in the air
Oh my home I am almost there
What has happened to my home
The lanterns do not burn
What has happened to my love
How cruelly the world turns
Summers come, summers go
Springtime birds, winter snow
The gods have betrayed me I’m all alone
Lady River carry me home
